Occupational First Aid

This course is designed to provide the student with the knowledge, practical skills and understanding required to provide and co-ordinate first aid in the work-place in compliance with the requirements of the safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General application) Regulations 2007: Part 7, Chapter 2: First Aid and the associated guide to those regulations.

On successful completion the student will be awarded a FETAC credit in Occupational First Aid at Level 5.

The course is divided into 8 units as follows:

  • First Aid in the workplace
  • Patient Assessment
  • Respiratory Emergencies
  • Cardiac First Response including defibrillation
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Altered levels of consciousness
  • Musculoskeletal injuries
  • Burns and scalds, chemicals and electric shock.

Assessment: Written examination and practical test
