BEIJING AIRPORT GROUP TO EQUIP WORLD’S LARGEST AIRPORT TERMINAL WITH THE ZOLL AED PLUS

Largest Public AED Deployment in China

May 7, 2008—CHELMSFORD, Mass. — ZOLL Medical Corporation (Nasdaq GS: ZOLL), a manufacturer of resuscitation devices and related software solutions, announced today that the Beijing Airport Group has selected the ZOLL AED Plus® to be installed in the Beijing Capital International Airport’s newly-built Terminal 3, the largest single airport building in the world. Plans call for the installation of 80 AED Plus units at Terminal 3, the gateway terminal for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, which is expected to welcome 55.6 million passengers to the summer games.

The ZOLL AED Plus is the first and only full-rescue AED that provides Real CPR Help® for rate and depth of chest compressions. It guides rescuers through the complete Chain of Survival, helping all sudden cardiac arrest victims, not just those who need a shock. The AED Plus features ZOLL’s unique one-piece electrode for fast and accurate placement and is powered by Lithium camera batteries available from retail stores.

The Beijing International Airport AED project is the first large public AED deployment project in China. The project marks a milestone for public access defibrillators in China. Before this project, 15 AED Plus units were deployed in Terminal 2 in 2007, setting a new standard for public safety devices in China and sparking a public demand for more AEDs in public places, such as airports, railway systems, shopping centers, and community centers.

As part of the project, the AED Plus will also be installed in several other major airports in China, which are also managed by the Beijing Airport Group, including Taiyuan and Wuhan Airports. The ZOLL AED Plus is also being deployed in the airport ambulances and emergency centers. Beijing Airport Group plans to rapidly expand its AED installed base to about 500 units. Given the large size of Beijing International, that expansion will take a few years.

“We’re extremely pleased that ZOLL AEDs will save the lives of SCA victims in China and will be highly visible in this landmark building to all visitors who come through the terminal,” said Richard A. Packer, President and Chief Executive Officer of ZOLL. “Our Real CPR Help technology in the AED Plus, along with its graphical interface, can greatly assist the infrequent rescuer through the Chain of Survival in the event an arrest occurs.” To date, approximately 150,000 AED Plus units have been deployed in 26 languages worldwide.

About Sudden Cardiac Arrest

The human toll from SCA is alarming with more than 1 million deaths occurring annually worldwide. It is the leading cause of unexpected death in the world and strikes without warning. Currently, only about 5 percent of victims survive; 95 percent will die from SCA. SCA is an abrupt disruption of the heart’s function, which causes a lack of blood flow to vital organs.

FAI approve AEDPlus rental scheme for soccer clubs throughout Ireland

The North Dublin Soccer League (NDSL) and Dublin and District Schoolboys League (DDSL) have announced a new initiative by which defibrillators will be made available to all clubs in the league. The scheme will be facilitated through KBR Heart in conjunction with Pulse Medical Ltd and is the first in a nationwide distribution program approved by the FAI.

Dr Alan M Byrne, Medical Director of the FAI is fully committed to the initiative. “This is the first step in a major program. The availability of defibrillators and appropriately trained people to use them is a major step forward. I would also encourage all coaches to ensure that all players over 14 years of age complete the FAI Cardiac Screening Questionnaire (available on the FAI website) that has been designed so that an initial risk assessment of Sudden Cardiac Death can be made.”

Mr Tony Gaines, Hon. Secretary of the NDSL said “we are delighted to be the first league to be affiliated to this program. We believe that this defibrillator is particularly suited for our circumstances in terms of ease of use, durability and ruggedness”.

Mr Brian Rock, KBR Managing Director, stated “The number of deaths through sudden cardiac arrest highlighted in the press in recent months has indicated the need for widespread availability of defibrillators. This initiative means that high quality defibrillators will now be available for rent or purchase to clubs at very affordable rates. Hopefully we can save some young lives as a result”.

Pulse Medical Ltd are distributors of the Zoll AEDPlus defibrillator in Ireland. The AEDPlus is the only full rescue defibrillator available on the market today. It will coach the rescuer through all aspects of the rescue including CPR. The AEDPlus can assess the resistance of each casualty’s chest and will tell the rescuer to “push harder” or “good compressions” as appropriate. No other defibrillator can do that.
